When reflecting on the nature and meaning of the Eucharist, all too often people hark back to the sixteenth century debates that tore the Church apart. But, as Joseph Ratzinger wisely observed, “The message of Jesus is completely misunderstood if it is separated from the context of the faith and hope of the Chosen People.” So, in this short study series we take the story back to the Scriptures and the Judaism of Jesus’ day in order to discover both the origins and meaning of the Eucharist – the source and summit of the Christian life.
