Stations of the Cross at Arundel Cathedral

Jesus on the Cross

Event details

  • Friday | 16th February 2018
  • 7:00 pm
  • Arundel Cathedral

Each Friday in Lent you are invitedĀ to accompany Christ as he walks the way of the cross.

The devotion known as the Stations of the Cross probably arose from the early practice of Christian pilgrims in Jerusalem following the via crucis from Pilate’s house to Calvary. Today, the Stations of the Cross help us to enter into the story of Jesus’ Passion for ourselves. They are a way of meditating on Jesus’ suffering and its relevance for us and the world in which we live. When we walk alongside our Lord in this devotion we fill our minds with the thought of his suffering, but we also think of the faith and love he showed right to the moment of his death. We pray with sorrow for our sins, and we remember the evil which led to Jesus’ death which is still the cause of so much innocent suffering today.

The location of our Stations of the Cross alternates between Arundel Cathedral and St Nicholas’ Church.
