The Church of England - Diocese of Chichester The Parish and Priory Church of Leg Up for India - A Sponsored walk Five St Nicholas' people - our Vicar Fr David, with four parishioners - are going to Tamil Nadu to do a sponsored walk of 100 km through part of the FEAST project area which was hit by the tsunami 5 years ago. (FEAST stands for For Education And Social Transformation).
The people who live there were already desperately poor and many then lost parents, partners or children as well as their homes. It will not be a pretty walk through the tsunami-wrecked area, but these very poorest fishing communities are representative of scattered villages all over the region supported by the FEAST sponsorship programme. We want to see for ourselves where they live, stay with them, and find out how best to put all the money we raise to effective use. These people are proud and hard-working - they know what to do to help themselves and their children, but are simply too poor Please will you help us give them a Leg Up? You can sponsor us online by going to Father David's page at www.justgiving.com/David-Farrer If you prefer not to sponsor online, you can contact St Nicholas parish office on: 01903 882262, and donations can be left there. Please make cheques payable to : St Nicholas PCC Charity Account for the benefit of FEAST. We hope you do ! Fr David Farrer, Jayne and Drew Scrimgeour, and Wayne and Sherian Morgan |
