On Ash Wednesday (14th February) There will be a sung mass and imposition of ashes at St Nicholas’ at 7.30pm.

Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of Lent. The day takes its name from the ceremonial imposition of ashes on the foreheads of the faithful. This practice, which goes back at least a thousand years, is a symbol of penitence and our desire to re-focus our lives on Christ.
